The Interior Innovations of the imm cologne

When the design innovations at the imm cologne and the accompanying Passagen programme can be admired in showrooms, galleries and museums from next Monday, 13 January 2020, the whole of Cologne will be transformed into the centre of the international furnishing and design scene. We at hicklvesting are at the furniture fair in Cologne with a large team and support our clients on site. More than 1,200 exhibitors are presenting innovative new products at the imm cologne until Sunday, 19 January 2020 — including our clients and design manufacturers ames, Kettnaker Möbelmanufaktur, Knoll, Boffi | dePadova, Ingo Maurer and the German Design Council.

The masterpiece of the Kettnaker Möbelmanufaktur, the seating furniture by ames made in traditional Colombian wickerwork or the new b.bulb lamp by the recently deceased lighting designer Ingo Maurer: accompany us to Cologne and discover the highlights and innovations of the imm cologne with hicklvesting.

The furniture, textiles and home accessories from ames interpret Colombia’s cultural heritage in a modern context. ames founder and managing director Ana María Calderón Kayser directs their complex development process. She tracks down long-established workshops in different regions of the country and creates encounters between artisans and industrial designers. The ames innovations for the imm cologne are colourful, lively and, in their visionary treatment, have a vibrantly modern aesthetic.

KETTNAKER FURNITURE MANUFACTURER

Hall 11.3, Booth S019, R010

The furniture manufacturer Kettnaker celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2020. The family business has been developing and producing its high-quality system furniture since its foundation in Dürmentingen, Swabia. Kettnaker’s anniversary trade fair stand gives an insight into the moving history of the company, which today works with state-of-the-art production technology while remaining true to its traditional values of perfect craftsmanship. At the beginning of the fair, Kettnaker will unveil its Masterpiece 150, which combines the most sophisticated craftsmanship with high-tech mechanical processes. These unique pieces of furniture will be produced by the master craftsman himself and not in serial production. They will be available in four model variations.

KNOLL

Hall 2.2, Booth A004, C007

Knoll International was founded in New York in 1938 and since then has stood for excellent, innovative design with functional furniture designed in a clear language of form, using the best materials and workmanship. The company is considered one of the leading manufacturers of home and office furniture worldwide. At the imm cologne stand, iconic classics are presented in a new look, such as the Barcelona® daybed in green. Knoll is celebrating the brilliant conclusion of the 100th Bauhaus anniversary year with a special edition of the Wassily™ chair from the pen of Marcel Breuer, limited to 500 pieces and with a black surface coating of the metal elements. One of the more recent design creations is Piero Lissoni’s Gould Sofa, which will be shown in its new modular version with chaise longue at the imm cologne stand.

Further innovations at imm cologne as part of the Passagen programme:

BOFFI | DE PADOVA

Since 1934, Boffi has stood for innovative, minimalist design in kitchens and bathrooms in the field of modern interior design worldwide, and since 2010 also for system furniture. On a national and international level, the company based in Lentate sul Seveso, Italy, is a leader in the development of new products as well as new exhibition and marketing concepts. With a unique shop concept, Boffi is now represented worldwide, including New York, Miami and Singapore. In 2015, Boffi takes over the furniture company De Padova, thus expanding its product portfolio from now on as a strong platform for excellent design. To mark its 15th anniversary, Boffi Cologne will be presenting the new products of the design companies Boffi, De Padova, MA/U Studio and ADL at the imm cologne’s Passagen 2020, followed by a cocktail reception at 7 pm in the Cologne showroom.

INGO MAURER

With his works, Ingo Maurer (1932-2019) is considered one of the most important pioneers in the application of the latest technological developments in lighting design. His creative experiments with light bulbs since the 1960s are legendary today. In a separate exhibition at the Design Post Cologne, the new b.bulb luminaire will be shown during the imm cologne, a tribute by the design team to the recently deceased Ingo Maurer. It is equipped with high-quality materials, a replaceable battery and modern “dimm-to-warm” technology. The new glass tube luminaire Tubular by Sebastian Hepting and the Ingo Maurer team is also a clear statement. Fascinating multiple reflections create the impression of a string of pearls and a loop provides an exciting twist.
